IBEW Local # 1 Electricians and Union Electrical Contractors Wire 25 Homes

ST. LOUIS – The Electrical Connection has been honored for performing the largest free electrical installation of its kind in St. Louis. Habitat for Humanity St. Louis presented the electrical industry’s union labor-management group with its Neighborhood Award for donating $125,000 in materials and services to its annual homebuilding campaign for the disadvantaged. The Electrical Connection, which safely wired a record 25 Habitat homes this year, is a partnership of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local #1 and the St. Louis Chapter, National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA).

IBEW and NECA mobilized more than 250 union electricians and 10 union electrical contractors to help build homes in the Mark Twain neighborhood of North St. Louis. In all, nearly 20 miles of wiring was installed.

Participating union electrical contractors include: American Electric & Data, Branson Electric Co., Dickherber Electric, Inc., Grasser Electric, J. Bathe Electric, Lindsey Electric Inc., M.R. Bathe Electric, Northwest Electric Co., Premier Electric, Schaeffer Electric Co. and Wentzel Electric.
